Expert view: Arsene Wenger likes Geoffrey Kondogbia but Arsenal move will NOT happen

Julien Laurens, talkSPORT's expert on all things French football, joined Hawksbee and Jacobs on Thursday.

He discussed Arsenal's reported interest in Geoffrey Kondogbia and claimed that, although Arsene Wenger is a big fan of the defensive midfielder, a deal is highly unlikely given Monaco will demand far more than the €20million they paid for him two years ago.

"He is a player that Wenger has liked for a long, long time now. He was looking at him when he was at Lens," said Laurens.

"He is the type of player Wenger likes. He is young, powerful, with a defensive mindset. I think he could be a good signing for Arsenal.

"The thing is, Monaco bought him for 20million, which is a lot of money, and will want far more money than that now, and I’m not sure Arsene Wenger will pay the money Monaco want.

"There is also a question mark over how consistent he could be at the top level.

"I'm not sure I can see that deal happening."
