Former Man City youngster set to snub interest from Everton and make Serie A switch

Everton target Ahmad Benali is expected to join Palermo this week on a free transfer.

The former Manchester City midfielder has been linked with a return to England but, according to Sky Italia, the 23-year-old will complete a medical in Sicily this week.

The Libyan international, who was born in Manchester, came through the City youth academy but failed to make a first-team appearance and was released to join Brescia in 2012.

Benali hit nine goals in 36 Serie B games for the Biancoazzurri last term.
