Chelsea transfer ALERT! Blues target Giorgio Chiellini yet to open talks over extending Juventus contract beyond this season

Chelsea have been put on red alert by the news Juventus are yet to open contract talks with Giorgio Chiellini.

The defender's current deal expires at the end of the season and he can leave for free if fresh terms aren't agreed.

Originally it had been thought the Italian champions would quickly tie down the 33-year-old after losing Leonardo Bonucci to AC Milan this summer.

But, according to Calciomercato, those claims are wide of the mark and Juve haven't even kicked off talks with Chiellini.

That news will certainly interest Chelsea, with Blues manager Antonio Conte a big fan of the centre-back.

Conte worked with Chiellini during his time at Juventus and Italy, and he may well be tempted to bring him to Stamford Bridge if he can nab him for free.
