Derby County agree deal for England international

Derby County have signed England international goalkeeper Scott Carson, arriving from relegated Wigan for an undisclosed fee.

Carson, 29, who has four caps for his country, has penned a two-year deal with the option of a third should he impress for the Rams.

New head coach Paul Clement said: "Competition for places across the squad is important and Scott's arrival certainly brings that to the goalkeeping department.

"We have two good goalkeepers already in Lee Grant and Kelle Roos and bringing Scott in will certainly raise the battle for the place between the posts."

Carson was a regular for Latics last season but could not prevent them from slipping into League One.
