  • Preston North End 0-0 Aston Villa - Chance

Rashford could be on the scoresheet!

Preston have started this second half aggressively, but they lose the ball in their half and Morgan Rogers carries it forward.

He has Marcus Rashford on the left and Marco Asensio to his right.

Rogers elects to find his England teammate, and he skips inside past one defender before trying to find the near post corner.

But there is Dai Cornell to smother the strike with an outstretched leg.

  • Preston North End 0-0 Aston Villa - Kick-off

We are back underway for the second 45 minutes at Deepdale.

No changes for either side, but you would expect a lot more urgency from the visitors.

Meanwhile, for the hosts, it is going to be about being solid and hitting on the counter-attack or using set pieces.

It is all set for a fascinating second half.

  • Preston North End 0-0 Aston Villa - HALF TIME

That is the end of the first half of this FA Cup quarter-final, and it is all square.

The hosts have been aggressive, well-organised and combative and made things very difficult for Aston Villa.

The visitors have created just one clear chance through Ezri Konsa's header despite having most of the ball.

Meanwhile, Paul Heckingbottom's men have probably had the best opportunity of the game, but Stefan Thodarson couldn't take advantage.

Certainly, they will be the happier of the two teams.

Remember, the FA Cup semi-final draw follows the conclusion of this match.

  • Preston North End 0-0 Aston Villa - Chance

That should be 1-0 to the hosts.

Finally, Preston create a chance of note as Robbie Brady drifts in from the right and curls a cross to the far post.

It's an excellent ball that Emiliano Martinez punches away as far as Frokjaer-Jensen.

He nods it back into the box for Stefan Thodarson, who has the whole goal to aim for, but he heads wide.

  • Preston North End 0-0 Aston Villa

Will Keane becomes the first man into the book for a cynical trip on Youri Tielemans.

The Belgian was running up the pitch, looking to start a conuter-attack when he was brought down by the Preston striker.

Marcus Rashford takes the free-kick and drills his effort straight at Tyrone Mings and out for a goal kick.

That probably sums up Rashford's game so far.

    Should do better!

Marco Asensio takes a corner on the far side that is cleared at the near post.

It comes back to the Spaniard, and he curls a wonderful cross into the box.

It is begging to be put away by someone, and Ezri Konsa is the man to make contact.

He beats his man, but can only guide a glancing header well wide of the far post.

However, it is clear that the Premier League side are starting to get on top now.

  • Preston North End 0-0 Aston Villa

Early test for Dai Cornell that he deals with well.

Aston Villa are awarded a free-kick 25 yards from goal that Marcus Rashford lines up to take.

He whips the ball over the wall, and with the sun in his eyes, the backup Preston shot-stopper gathers in the centre of his goal.

He'll be pleased that was so straightforward.

Huge penalty appeals for the hosts!

Lucas Digne plays a horrible pass towards Youri Tielemans that beats the Belgian.

Will Keane is onto it, and goes down in the box under pressure from Tielemans.

Referee Chris Kavanagh waves away the appeals, and VAR also agrees.

On reflection, it would have been very soft if it had been given.

  • Preston North End vs Aston Villa - Kick-off

We are underway at Deepdale, as an injury-hit Preston take on Aston Villa for a place in the FA Cup semi-finals.

The sun is out in Lancashire, and the atmosphere is brilliant.

The hosts are going to need their fans with him the whole time, as Unai Emery has named a very strong starting XI.

He knows just how important winning the FA Cup would be to Villa and their fans.

  • Preston North End vs Aston Villa: Team news

Team news is in for the third FA Cup quarter-final.

We saw Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest progress to the last four yesterday, and we have two more ties today.

First up, it is Preston North End vs Aston Villa, and the hosts have been dealt a bitter blow, with Freddie Woodman missing out through injury.

Dai Cornell starts in his place.

Meanwhile, Marcus Rashford leads the line for Aston Villa, with Ollie Watkins on the bench.

But apart from that, Unai Emery has named a very strong starting XI.

Preston: Cornell, Storey, Gibson, Hughes, Brady, Meghoma, Whiteman, Thordarson, Frokjaer, Keane, Riis

Subs: Stowell, Lindsay, Bauer, Pasiek, Tarry, Carroll, Mawene, Evans, Osmajic

Aston Villa: Martinez, Cash, Konsa, Mings, Digne, Kamara, Tielemans, Asensio, Rogers, Ramsey, Rashford

Subs: Olsen, Bogarde, Maatsen, Garcia, Torres, Onana, Malen, Watkins, McGinn

  • We talk about Bruno

Newcastle United captain Bruno Guimaraes got in trouble twice off Ant and Dec during the club's Carabao Cup trophy parade for swearing.

The Magpies celebrated ending their 70-year wait for a domestic trophy in style as an estimated 300,000 people took to the city centre to watch Eddie Howe and the players on an open-top bus being transported to the Town Moor.

There, they found a huge stage that hosted all of the players for around an hour as several squad members and Howe all spoke to the adoring Tyneside faithful.

And Guimaraes perhaps went a bit over the top, given the parade was being broadcast on the BBC when he started a chant about Sandro Tonali that includes the lyrics, 'hates f****** Sunderland'.

Ant and Dec quickly had to warn him before later on they asked what he had told the players before they entered the pitch ahead of the final, and he said: "Today, we start as players and leave as f****** legends'.

This went down brilliantly with Howe who could be seen laughing along with his assistant Jason Tindall, but Ant and Dec had to apologise again.

In truth, it probably just made Toon fans love Guimaraes just that little bit more.

  • Arsenal announce new sporting director

Arsenal have confirmed that Andrea Berta has joined the club as Sporting Director - just as talkSPORT revealed earlier this month.

The Gunners have been searching for a new transfer guru following Edu's exit in November.

On March 9, our Chief Football Correspondent, Alex Crook, reported that Italian Berta had been chosen as his replacement.

Berta spent 12 years with Spanish giants Atletico Madrid before leaving the club in January.

Andrea told Arsenal's website: “I am thrilled to be joining Arsenal in what is a hugely exciting period for the club.

“I have watched with great interest the way Arsenal has evolved in recent years and I have admired the hard work that has gone in to reestablishing the club as a major force in European football with a passionate following around the world.

“The club has great values and a rich history, and I am looking forward to playing my part in shaping a successful future with a great team.

“I cannot wait to get started in my new role and I am really looking forward to experiencing my first game at Emirates Stadium together with our supporters.”

Co-Chair Josh Kroenke said: “Anyone who knows football knows Andrea is an impressive figure. He has vast knowledge of the game, a great track record, a strong network and an insatiable desire to build winning teams.

“Andrea will be a great addition to our club. He understands our values and what we stand for and we have no doubt he will help us push on and take the next steps in our bid to win major trophies.

“We undertook a thorough recruitment process and we were hugely impressed with the level of all the other candidates, but it was Andrea’s experience and the success he has enjoyed that stood out.

“We are really looking forward to working together and welcoming him into the Arsenal family.”

  • Cherry picked

Bournemouth boss Andoni Iraola has admitted he values winning the FA Cup above playing in Europe.

He told BBC 5 Live: "The FA Cup is, for me, much more important than playing in Europe. It's a title.

"Sometimes they talk about the cup competitions as a way to get into Europe. I don't care about Europe.

"We are playing in a final, we are fighting for a title. For me, it's much more important."

What on Earth is going on...

The Brighton youngster hits a weak effort and the Nottingham Forest goalkeeper pushes it away.

Nottingham Forest are level again, this time Callum Hudson-Odoi with an excellent penalty into the roof of the net.

  • Brighton 0-0 Nottingham Forest [2-1 pens]

Brajan Gruda is next for Brighton and he also finds the back of the net.

  • Brighton 0-0 Nottingham Forest [1-1 pens]

First for Nottingham Forest is Elliot Anderson and he cooly slots it into the bottom corner for 1-1.

  • Brighton 0-0 Nottingham Forest [1-0 pens]

A shootout will decide who will play in the FA Cup semi-finals.

Brighton take first in front of their home fans, and Joao Pedro puts them ahead.

  • Brighton 0-0 Nottingham Forest - Chance

Brighton think they've won it at the death but it's offside.

Pervis Estupinan heads the ball into the path of Joao Pedro, who nods the ball into the net from close range.

But Estupinan is miles offside in the replays and the linesman was quick to raise his flag.

    It's time for penalties.

  • Brighton 0-0 Nottingham Forest - Chance

    What a save!

Matz Sels has kept Nottingham Forest in this tie with an excellent stop to deny Diego Gomez's header.

There's about ten minutes left of this clash before we go to penalties.
