‘Daniel Sturridge is up there with Harry Kane – they are England’s most naturally-gifted finishers’, says Danny Murphy

Danny Murphy has told talkSPORT Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge is ‘up there with Harry Kane’, and that the duo are the best ‘naturally-gifted finishers’ at England’s disposal.
Sturridge has been named in Gareth Southgate’s latest Three Lions squad for upcoming World Cup friendlies against Slovenia and Lithuania, despite his poor form in a Reds shirt.
The 28-year-old is out-of-favour under Jurgen Klopp and has started just three of his seven appearances for the Reds this season, scoring only one goal.
Kane, meanwhile, is perhaps one of the most in-form frontmen in world football having netted 13 goals in his past eight games for club and country.
However, Murphy believes Sturridge is still one of the best strikers England has to choose from, despite his fall down the pecking order at Anfield.
Speaking to talkSPORT host Jim White, the former Liverpool and Tottenham star said: “I’d put Sturridge up there with Kane.
“I think they are the two most naturally-gifted finishers we’ve got.
“Sturridge is a match-winner and he’s got superb ability.
“I would suggest that the reason he doesn’t play every week under Jurgen Klopp is that he feels he’s not a team player and doesn’t put enough in - but he sees him train every week when I don’t.
“Now, that’s ok if you have a manager that’s ok with that.”
