We knew a Manchester United signing was in the pipeline but the club took everyone by surprise with the announcement of Sergio Romero’s arrival.

While Red Devils supporters in England were tucked up in bed dreaming about Sergio Ramos playing alongside Phil Jones and Wayne Rooney’s strike partnership with Zlatan Ibrahimovic, the club sneakily – at 1am – revealed they had signed the Argentina shot-stopper.

It’s a move which appears to have excited fans and worried them in equal measures.

Romero represents a good piece of business with him being a free transfer, but it could also mean the end for David De Gea who is edging closer to a switch to Real Madrid.
