Aston Villa and West Brom are set to battle it out to land Blackburn striker Rudy Gestede.

Gestede is expected to leave Ewood Park this summer, having attracted much interest after firing 34 goals in 65 games for the Championship side.

The 26-year-old is keen to test himself in the Premier League, and both Villa and West Brom are ready to offer him the chance to play in the top-flight.

Villa are planning to launch a £6m move for the Benin international, while the Baggies are willing to go to the £7m mark.

West Brom are confident their offer will be enough to convince Blackburn to sell, and Villa are likely to be forced to up their bid or risk losing out to their rivals.
