Aston Villa boss Tim Sherwood rues defeat to ‘flukey’ Manchester United goal

Aston Villa manager Tim Sherwood has rued Adnan Januzaj’s 'flukey' winner for Manchester United but insisted his side needs to improve going forward.
The Villans were wasteful in attack as they attempted to level against a shaky looking Red Devils side and in the end couldn’t get the ball beyond Sergio Romero, allowing their opponents to sneak to a 1-0 victory.
And Sherwood hopes once his newly assembled squad will be able show their true potential once they’ve spent more time together on the pitch.
“You’re always disappointed when you come away with nothing,” he said.
“I thought it was a flukey goal. We gave Juan Mata too much time, he slides a pass in and Adnan Januzaj does well but he gets lucky with a deflection.
“I’m just disappointed we didn’t carry an attacking threat really. Going forward we were not good enough.
“The fact we’ve got ten new players on the pitch [didn’t help us] and it’s going to take time for them to gel.
“But the organisation was fine defensively, I don’t think they opened us up too many times but we never carried a potent threat going forward.”
