Gyokeres is understood to have a gentleman's agreement with Sporting Lisbon to leave the club for £63million.

The fee represents a lower figure than the £85million release clause included in his contract.

Arsenal are set to open talks with the 26-year-old after identifying him as a more attainable target than compatriot Alexander Isak.

The Swedish international is also open to a move to the Emirates Stadium, talkSPORT understands.

Gyokeres was asked about the potential transfer following Sporting's 3-1 win over Moreirense on Friday.

He scored a hat-trick in the home victory, his fifth since joining the club from Coventry last summer.

During his post-match interview, Gyokeres was asked if he liked London, replying: "I like Lisbon."

The reporter also asked about his reported agreement with Sporting, with the forward adding: "I can’t say anything about that."

He continued: "No one can predict what will happen, we enjoy the moment.";

Following his treble on Friday night, Gyokeres now has a staggering 90 goals in 96 appearances for Sporting across all competitions.

The win leaves his side top of the table on goal difference ahead of city rivals Benfica.

Both sides have four league matches remaining this season, including a meeting on the penultimate weekend of the campaign.

It could be Gyokeres' last Lisbon derby before leaving the club in the summer.

New Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta is set for a busy transfer window as he looks to add to Mikel Arteta's squad.

The Gunners boss has urged his new transfer chief to spend big, explaining: "Squad quality and availability — without those, we cannot compete in four competitions.

"At this level, especially in this country, it is impossible. The higher the quality, the higher the availability, the more chances you have.
