Manchester United team to face Newcastle: Bastian Schweinsteiger starts in place of Michael Carrick

Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has handed Bastian Schweinsteiger his first Premier League start as they take on Newcastle at Old Trafford.

The World Cup winner, 31, has been limited to substitute appearances so far as he improves his fitness, but Van Gaal has now seen fit to put him in the team.

Michael Carrick is the man to drop out of the starting XI, while Adnan Januzaj continues in the side after two impressive displays.

Misfiring Wayne Rooney is also kept in the team, with Memphis Depay looking to net his first Premier League goal, following his Champions League strikes in midweek.
