Swansea 1-0 West Brom: Paul Clement says Swans can get 29 points in the second half of the season

Paul Clement has targeted 15 points by the season’s half way point after his Swansea side earned a priceless win at home to West Brom.

Wilfried Bony’s emphatic finish nine minutes from time was all that separated the two sides in the basement battle at the Liberty Stadium.

Victory sees the Swans off the bottom of the Premier League table with twelve points and just a point away from safety.

And Clement, who guided the Welsh side away from relegation last season after taking charge of the club in January, said his side will look to win their next game against league leaders Manchester City.

But the former Real Madrid and Bayern Munich assistant manager conceded that there are other games that Swansea are more likely to take points from.

Clement said: "We hope to get to 15 or 16 points by the half way point. We know we’re a club capable of doing 29 points in the second half of the season.

“When you look at the four games that we had going into the half way point, this being one today, Manchester City, then we go to Everton and then Crystal Palace at home.

“On paper and it’s only on paper you think that some of those games are much more achievable, much more realistic targets to take all three points than others.

“We’ll go into the Manchester City game with the will to try and take all three points. They are a fantastic side but it was most important to get this one and to try and get in a better position to the one the club did at the half way point last season, which was twelve, we’re now at twelve.”
