Reports – Chelsea monitoring Atletico Madrid ace Koke ahead of potential January swoop

Chelsea are weighing up a January approach for Atletico Madrid midfielder Koke, claim reports in Spain.

Jose Mourinho has been left unimpressed with his creative players so far this season and is keen on bringing in reinforcements in January as they bid to keep hold of their Premier League title.

And, according to Sport, the Blues are keeping a close eye on Spanish starlet Koke, who drew the attention of a host of top clubs with an impressive campaign for Atletico last season.

Mourinho is reportedly a huge fan of the 23-year-old, who has already made over 150 league appearances for Rojiblancos, though Chelsea might have to fend off competition from Barcelona to secure his signature.

The Blues will have to pay a fee of around £40million for the young Spain international if they want to buy him this winter but may have to wait until next summer before Atletico agree to enter talks.
