‘I will be on the bench when I come back’ – Benjamin Mendy hails Manchester City teammate Fabian Delph
Manchester City fullback Benjamin Mendy believes Fabian Delph’s impressive form will make his return to the starting line-up a tough task.
The midfielder has filled in at left-back since Mendy suffered knee ligament damage against Crystal Palace in September, despite playing out of position.
Mendy is currently in the United States of America ahead of Super Bowl LII as the New England Patriots take on the Philadelphia Eagles in Minneapolis.

The French international is nearing the end of his recovery from knee ligament damage as he looks to help City to a potential quadruple trophy haul.
And Mendy admitted he does not expect to slot straight into the team thanks to the form of Delph and youngster Oleksandr Zinchenko.
“I told him I will be on the bench when I come back,” Mendy told Nat Coombs and Will Gavin at Super Bowl LII.
“He plays so good every day - the same for the young player Zinchenko - what these guys are doing in this position is not easy, but they are playing a perfect game.
“I need to say thank you to all the players for this [season] because it is not easy.”
The Premier League leaders hold a 15-point advantage at the top of table and remain on course to lift further silverware in the form of the Carabao Cup, FA Cup and Champions League.
And Mendy shared his belief that City have the mind-set to claim an unprecendented quadruple under Pep Guardiola at the Etihad Stadium.
“My ambition and City’s ambition is to win everything if it is possible - we want this - every day we train for this,” Mendy added.
“And I say, if we are focused as a team and take each game step-by-step, it is possible.
“Every player and every team want to win this cup and we are going to work hard for the maximum [of winning the Champions League].”
