Scotland squad for Costa Rica and Hungary friendlies includes McTominay

Manchester United midfielder Scott McTominay has been called into the Scotland senior squad for the friendlies against Costa Rica and Hungary, the Scottish Football Association has announced.

Other fresh faces include Barnsley striker Oli McBurnie, Wolves left-back Barry Douglas, Hearts goalkeeper Jon McLaughlin, Hibernian midfielder Dylan McGeouch and Aberdeen defender Scott McKenna in what is manager Alex McLeish's first squad in his second spell in charge.

McTominay, 21, has played 17 times for the club this season and qualifies to play for Scotland through his father.

McLeish has also selected three more uncapped players for the friendlies - Millwall goalkeeper Jordan Archer, Rangers winger Jamie Murphy and Fulham midfielder Kevin McDonald.

The match against Costa Rica on 23 March will be the first time the two sides have met since Costa Rica recorded a shock 1-0 victory at the 1990 World Cup - their sole meeting so far.

Scotland then travel to Budapest, where they will face a Hungary side currently ranked 54th in the world.
