Manchester United transfer news: £10m Yoshinori Muto bid, £40m De Gea interest, plus Van Gaal and Mourinho latest

Manchester United are without a Premier League win since the end of November, with Louis van Gaal seemingly facing a fight to keep his place in the Old Trafford dugout in the new year.
From the Dutchman’s curious team selections to their lack of inspiration in the final third, there are plenty of question marks over their current form.
The January transfer window is therefore looked upon with great anticipation, but will Van Gaal be in charge when the market opens?

This talkSPORT can’t answer, but we have taken a look at the latest players allegedly on the Red Devils’ wish list and have provided an update on the former Netherland manager’s future, including the most recent speculation on replacement target Jose Mourinho.

1. Yoshinori Muto – United to make £10m bid for Japan forward in January? Click the arrow above to read more rumours on the Red Devils – With goals proving hard to come by this season, United are – unsurprisingly – eyeing attacking reinforcements in the winter window. And, according to reports, Muto, who rejected a five-year contract from Chelsea to join 1. FSV Mainz 05 in the summer, is on their transfer wish list. The Japan international has scored seven goals thus far in the Bundesliga, and seems to have impressed the struggling Premier League giants. 2. Matt Ritchie – Red Devils to go head-to-head with three other Premier League clubs for Bournemouth star? – United are said to be monitoring the performances of the Cherries winger, who has two goals and three assists so far this season, but face competition from Everton, West Bromwich Albion and West Ham United. The 26-year-old signed a three-year contract just 11 months ago, but his impressive displays could result in a number of offers from across England’s top flight. And with Memphis Depay yet to match up to his price tag in the Premier League, the Red Devils could turn to one of Eddie Howe’s men.
3. Tyler Blackett – United to recall defender from Celtic loan spell? – Such is United’s extensive injury list, that the club are considering ending Blackett’s temporary deal at Celtic Park early. The Daily Mail claim that the Red Devils will go into the January transfer window for a new left back, but are also keen on recalling Blackett to strengthen their position in the market. Luke Shaw and Marcos Rojo are both side-lined through injury, leaving Van Gaal with limited options in this position.
4. Sadio Mane – Southampton star remains a transfer target for Red Devils? – Looking towards the summer window, United are set to return with an offer for Mane following a series of rejected offers for the Saints winger before the start of the current campaign. Ronald Koeman recently insisted that the Senegal international, nor any of his other players for that matter, is not available at any price in January, with the <a href="//marvelbet369.com/football/we-would-not-even-sell-sadio-mane-ps100million-says-southampton-boss-ronald-koeman" target="_blank">Southampton manager claiming that even a £100m bid would fail to tempt the club into selling</a>. The Red Devils appear to respect the Saints boss' stance on transfer business next month, but reports claim they will make a bid for Mane next summer.
5. David De Gea – Spaniard still on Real Madrid's radar despite summer fiasco? – On the subject of the end of season market, United may have been hoping that the collapsed deal to sign De Gea in the summer will have put Los Blancos off from future negotiations. It seems, though, that this hasn’t been the case. According to reports, Real will return with a bid of £40m for the goalkeeper’s signature. A source, as quoted by the Daily Star, said: "Real Madrid will not attempt to sign David De Gea in the January window. But the club is proposed to sign him in the summer for next season."
6. Louis van Gaal – United boss could quit Old Trafford? – Moving away from possible signings and towards other serious matters, the Mail on Sunday claim that Van Gaal will walk away from Manchester United should they fail to beat Chelsea on Monday 28 December – which would be their fifth successive Premier League defeat. The <a href="//marvelbet369.com/football/manchester-united-news-louis-van-gaal-hints-he-could-quit-he-sacked-151226179028" target="_blank">former Netherlands manager hinted after their loss to Stoke City on Boxing Day that he is prepared to quit the club</a> if their poor form continues, and it seems he could do so before the New Year.
