Arsenal FC transfer news: Turkish star Caglar Soyuncu confirms Gunners interest

Arsenal are moving quickly to improve their defensive options this summer and Frieburg star Caglar Soyuncu has confirmed the Gunners are interested in him.

The 22-year-old is regarded as one of the best young defenders in the Bundesliga, having made 55 appearances since joining Freiburg in 2016, and said he will talk to Arsenal after the international break.

His performances have seen him linked with a move away from Germany and the Gunners' head of recruitment, Sven Mislintat, is understood to be lining up a £35 million deal to bring him to the Emirates.

When asked about the rumours, Soyuncu said: "Arsenal are one of the most important clubs in England.

"I know they’re interested in me, but there’s nothing finalised yet about my transfer.

"After the national team camp we’ll have talks."

His agent, Mustafa Dogru, stirred up speculation of a move to England back in April.

He said: "The difference between Bundesliga 1 and the Premier League is not as big as from the Turkish second division and Bundesliga 1, so he is ready.

"He is perfect for the Premier League. We are sure he is going to make a big impact in the first season."
