Why does France striker Olivier Giroud have a bandage on his head during the World Cup?
The Chelsea forward replaced Antoine Griezmann against Australia but was still feeling the effects of playing the USA a week earlier

If you wondered why Olivier Giroud was sporting a bandage on his head in France's World Cup match against Australia it's because he has six stitches to protect.
The Chelsea forward needed sewing up following a collision with Chelsea team-mate Matt Miazga in France's 1-1 draw with USA prior to the World Cup.
"Olivier Giroud has a beautiful cut of six centimetres. But he will be able to face Australia," France's head coach Didier Deschamps revealed after the game.
He was showing the effects of his clash as he boarded his team's flight to Russia and midway through the second half of his nation's opening game in Group C, Giroud replaced Antoine Griezmann with a bandage covering his wound.
After the Australia game, it's Peru and Denmark for Les Bleus, who won the tournament in 1998 when current manager Deschamps was the captain.
