World Cup 2018: The best pictures and reaction from Pepe’s dreadful dive during Portugal’s win over Morocco

The defender fell to the ground after being tapped on the shoulder by Medhi Benatia

Diving is an epidemic in football that the powers that be are constantly trying to eradicate from the game but it seems this does not deter some players from throwing themselves to the floor for no apparent reason.

And Portugal centre-back Pepe did one truly shocking dive during Portugal's 1-0 World Cup victory over Morocco after Medhi Benatia merely tapped him on the shoulder.

The result sees Morocco exit the tournament despite playing good football in their games against Iran and the Portuguese.

Meanwhile, Pepe and co are currently top of Group B and are in a great position to make it through to the knockout stages.

Unfortunately it seems the Besiktas man's gamesmanship has overshadowed what was a competitive World Cup game.

Below you can the best pictures of the incident and Pepe's hostile reaction to Benatia's touch.
