Pep Guardiola is on the verge of his first summer signing
Manchester City are close to completing a £46.5milion deal to sign Napoli midfielder Jorginho, according to reports.
The 26-year-old’s move to the Etihad Stadium is expected to be wrapped up this week and could be announced this weekend.
It is claimed he will sign a five-year contract with the English champions.
He will be Pep Guardiola’s first signing of the summer, as he looks to strengthen his side ahead of their Premier League title defence.
But, , Napoli will wait to sign Jorginho’s replacement before they rubber stamp the Italy international’s City switch.
The Serie A side have made an approach for Spanish midfielder Fabián Ruiz, who is set to join them from Real Betis for €30m.
Man City have been working on a deal for Brazil-born Italy player Jorginho for months.
Guardiola has been looking out for another central midfielder to ease the workload on key man Fernandinho, and also to replace the departed Yaya Toure.
Jorginho moved from Brazil to Italy as a teenager, first joining Verona before moving to Napoli in 2014.

He has made 130 appearances for the Italian side, and has eight caps for Italy after making his debut in 2016.
City are also hopeful of completing a deal for Leicester’s Riyad Mahrez this summer, having failed to land the Algerian in January.
