Thibaut Courtois mocks England goalkeeper Jordan Pickford for being too short to save Adnan Januzaj’s winner for Belgium

The Chelsea goalkeeper, who is four inches taller than Pickford, claims he would've easily saved the curling effort

Thibaut Courtois has poked fun at Jordan Pickford for being too short to save Adnan Januzaj's winner against England.

Januzaj scored the only goal of Thursday night's game, curling the ball beyond Pickford's fingertips to ensure Belgium finished above England in Group G.

However Courtois believes he would've had no trouble keeping the the shot out and suggests the Three Lions keeper was 'too busy' trying to impress the cameras.

In an interview with , Courtois said: "The goalkeeper is 10cm smaller than me.

"I would have caught it. He was too busy throwing his legs in the air."

Courtois stands at 6ft 5in, the joint-third tallest man at the World Cup, while Pickford is notably shorter at 6ft 1in.

Gary Neville was also unimpressed by the Everton goalkeeper's attempt to get a hand on the ball.

Speaking on ITV, the former Manchester United defender said: ";His feet are off the ground when he’s jumping. He goes with his wrong hand. It’s just a bit weird."

Nonetheless, Pickford is expected to retain his position in between the sticks when England take on Colombia in the first knockout round on Tuesday evening.
