Colombia 1-1 (3-4 pens) England: Three Lions reach World Cup quarter-finals with dramatic shootout victory
It is England's first win in a knockout game in a tournament since the 2006 World Cup

England made it to the quarter-finals of the 2018 World Cup in dramatic style by beating Colombia in a nail-biting penalty shootout at the Spartak Stadium.
Eric Dier's calm spot-kick secured their first ever victory in a shootout at a World Cup after Jordan Pickford had brilliantly denied Carlos Bacca from 12 yards.
Earlier, a Harry Kane penalty in the second half of normal time had given England the lead and that looked to be enough to secure victory.
But, in stoppage time, Yerry Mina’s towering header drew the South Americans level and forced another 30 minutes.
There were few chances in extra time with both sides looking tired and seemingly resigned to penalties.
Colombia initially had the advantage in the shootout as Jordan Henderson became the first man to fluff his spot-kick.
But Mateus Uribe’s miss and Pickford’s wonderful save presented Dier with the chance to end England's penalty hoodoo - which he duly did.
England now have a last eight date with Sweden on Saturday afternoon, live on talkSPORT.
England had controlled the first-half and captain Kane nearly gave them the lead on 15 minutes but was just unable to direct Kieran Trippier's searching cross into the net.
The South Americans grew increasingly frustrated and began to resort to the unconventional tactics of trying to wind England up.
And the closing stages of the first-half saw Wilmar Barrios appear to headbutt Henderson, but referee Mark Geiger only cautioned the Colombia midfielder following a brief VAR check.
The end of the first-half also saw a Colombian coach lean into Raheem Sterling as the two teams walked off the pitch. However, the Manchester City man removed himself from the situation swiftly.
Gareth Southgate's men kept up the tempo after the break and were awarded a penalty on 53 minutes after Carlos Sanchez held Kane in the box.
After lengthy and animated protests from the Colombia team, Kane stepped up and put the spot-kick straight down the middle.
Dele Alli could have doubled their lead five minutes later but headed an inch-perfect cross from the right just over.
Colombia fought back and nearly got level on 80 minutes after Kyle Walker lost the ball in a bad position, but Juan Cuadrado skied the resulting chance.
Jose Pekerman's men piled on the pressure and nearly equalised in spectacular fashion but Uribe's effort from distance was spectacularly saved by Pickford.
But Colombia did get their goal in the third minute of added time when Mina rose brilliantly and headed in to force another 30 minutes.
It was a tense extra-time but England had opportunities to snatch the win with efforts from Danny Rose and Eric Dier, while Radamel Falcao should have done better with a header as the game headed to the dreaded penalty shootout.
Both teams scored their opening two spot-kicks before Henderson had his effort saved by David Ospina.
However, Uribe hit the bar with the next penalty and Trippier levelled the game.
Pickford then got a firm hand on Bacca's penalty to give Dier a golden chance to write his name into England folklore and he did just that when he put his penalty in in the corner to send the England camp and travelling fans into pandemonium.
STAR MAN
You could give this to a number of England players including Pickford but the standout performer is Trippier.
Not only did he have a good game throughout, the wing-back arguably had the hardest spot-kick as this would have cut the Three Lions' deficit and he produced a brilliant strike which then led to Bacca's miss.
MOMENT OF THE MATCH
This one's obvious. When Dier's kick hit the back of the net this ended England's dreadful record in penalty shootouts and carried on their magical campaign in Russia.
