STILL NO. 1

Liverpool goalkeeper Loris Karius set to remain first choice at Anfield next season – reports

The Reds had been on the hunt for a new shot-stopper after Karius' shocking display in the Champions League final

Loris Karius looks set to remain the No. 1 goalkeeper at Liverpool next season, according to reports.

The 25-year-old made two ghastly errors in the Reds' 3-1 Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid and a new goalkeeper was reported to be Jurgen Klopp's top priority.

However, according to the , Karius is likely to remain the club's first choice keeper next season with no alternatives lined up to replace him.

Liverpool have expressed interest in Roma goalkeeper Alisson, but the Italian club's asking price of £80m is believed to be too much, with Chelsea or Real Madrid his more likely destination.

Atletico Madrid's Jan Oblak has also been linked to the club, however he will reportedly cost £80m as well.

The Echo also dismissed various transfer links to Kasper Schmeichel, Nick Pope and Thomas Strakosha.

The Reds have been busy this summer, bringing in Monaco midfielder Fabinho and welcoming the already-agreed Nabi Keita.

However, rumours that a goalkeeper may not arrive will disappoint many supporters at Anfield who see that position as an Achilles heel.
