Could Mourinho lose his job this evening?

United fans at Old Trafford were stunned into silence, with some even leaving after such a short space of time!

With reports on Friday suggesting Mourinho was to be sacked regardless of the result at Old Trafford, it made fans wonder if the Red Devils could do the unthinkable and sack the former Real Madrid boss during the game.

Although it seems extremely ruthless, it has actually happened to a Premier League manager before.

With Tottenham flattering to deceive at the start of the 2007-08 season, Martin Jol looked set to lose his job after a heavy influx of arrivals into White Hart Lane (including Gareth Bale).

With reports suggesting the Dutchman was going to be sacked and Juande Ramos brought in to replace him, Spurs did the unthinkable and pulled the proverbial trigger during a UEFA Cup game on October 25th at half-time of a UEFA Cup clash with Getafe, with the news circulating around the stadium before the final whistle.

Writing in his column for in 2015, former Lilywhites midfielder Jermaine Jenas revealed exactly it affected the members of the squad, as well as Jol himself.

He said: “I remembering speaking to him before the game because I was carrying an injury and his face was just blank, as if he was looking right through me. In the weeks leading up to that, you could tell something had changed within him.

“It was leaked in the papers that Spurs were speaking to Juande Ramos. We'd seen it, he had obviously seen it, so it was impossible to ignore. As players, we were trying to concentrate on doing our jobs - and we all liked Martin - but there's no doubt it was distracting."
