Aston Villa interested in signing Chelsea starlet Callum Hudson-Odoi as John Terry is linked with return as manager

The Stamford Bridge legend could use his connections to bring wonderkid Hudson-Odoi to Villa Park

Aston Villa are being linked with a swoop for Chelsea starlet Callum Hudson-Odoi, who could become John Terry's first signing if appointed the Championship club's manager.

Terry, who announced his retirement as a player on Sunday, is being linked with returning to Villa Park to take his first steps into the world of management.

It appears Terry is the frontrunner to succeed Steve Bruce as the club's manager, with Thierry Henry now out the running, and he could look to strengthen Villa's squad by raiding his former club.

Villa already have one Chelsea player on loan, forward Tammy Abraham, and the say the club now hold an interest in Hudson-Odoi.

17-year-old Hudson-Odoi was one of the stars of Chelsea's pre-season campaign, but he has only featured once since the season started - playing an hour in Chelsea's Community Shield defeat at the hands of Manchester City.

There have been suggestions he could depart Stamford Bridge on loan when the transfer window reopens in January, and Villa are said to be keen on the teenage England youth international.
