Former Tottenham and West Ham manager Harry Redknapp responds to I’m A Celebrity rumours on talkSPORT

The 71-year-old was coy when quizzed about reports he is to take part in the reality show

Harry Redknapp has refused to deny reports he will be part of the I’m A Celebrity 2018 line-up.

It emerged over the weekend that the former Premier League boss, who counts Tottenham and West Ham among his old clubs, has been in talks with ITV bosses about heading to Australia to take part in the popular reality show, which starts next month.

When quizzed on the Sports Breakfast whether he’d be among the contestants, Redknapp was coy but pointedly did not rule out becoming the latest figure from the world of football to enter the jungle.

He told Alan Brazil and Ray Parlour: “I’m not allowed to say!

“Anything could happen between now and then. I wouldn’t like to bet one way or the other...”

When asked how he would handle the creepy-crawlies and "jumping out of helicopters", he said: “I don’t know, I’ve never done anything like that.

"I’m trying not to think about it all.

"I might go and sleep in the New Forest for a week in preparation!"

Neil 'Razor' Ruddock, who played under Redknapp at West Ham, is among the former football stars to have taken part in I'm A Celeb.

Redknapp has quizzed his old player on his time in the jungle, adding: "He said it was the toughest thing he's ever done.

"You could imagine Razor not eating for a month, it would have killed him!"

It will be interesting to see how 'Arry would cope in the jungle if he does go in, given his previous comments about his reliance on wife Sandra.

He once said: “I wouldn’t cope. I’m useless. She treats me like a baby.

“She does everything. I can’t cook, I can’t make a coffee, I can’t do nothing.”
