Tottenham sent a message to their title rivals with a gritty 1-0 victory away at Crystal Palace.
A first Premier League goal for Juan Foyth proved decisive as a below-par Spurs went level on points with Chelsea and Liverpool.
The 20-year-old nodded in from point-blank range in the 66th minute to redeem himself after a torrid display against Wolves last week.
Palace, without talisman Wilfried Zaha, sparked into life in the closing stages and Alexander Sorloth spurned a glorious chance at the death.
But their troubled time in front of goal continued as Spurs made it four consecutive wins.

Hugo Lloris - 6
The skipper didn't have much to do, but that didn't prevent a couple of heart-in-mouth moments. He flapped at a corner before skewing a clearance straight to Andros Townsend. But he made up for it with a superb stop from Sorloth late-on.

Forced off injured early in the game. Spurs will hope it's nothing too serious.

Juan Foyth - 8
Redemption! It was a nervy start from the youngster, who struggled to shake off those two conceded penalties at Wolves last week. But he grew into the game and bagged his first Spurs goal.
Ben Davies - 6
Tottenham's greatest threat came from wide and Davies' delivery was on the money every time.
Moussa Sissoko - 7
A couple of bulldozing runs had the travelling fans chanting his name and his Spurs career is certainly going from strength-to strength.
Victor Wanyama - 5
He looked like a player returning from injury too early and the game largely passed him by.
Lucas Moura - 7
The Brazilian must be such a nightmare to play against. He is always busy and caused real problems for the Palace defence.
Dele Alli - 6
At the scene of his most famous goal, he couldn't provide that sort of magic. He was neat and tidy without being cutting and incisive, excluding one brilliant pass to Eric Lamela.
Eric Lamela - 5
The Argentine was fairly wasteful in possession, but credit to him for always trying to force the issue.
Harry Kane - 5
He did well to win the header which led to the goal, however that was his only meaningful contribution.
Serge Aurier (Sub) - 6
Much like Davies on the other side, Aurier got forward well and got plenty of decent crosses into the box.
Heung-Min Son (Sub) - 5
The substitute had a great chance to double his side's lead in stoppage time but he couldn't make the most of it.
