Although the Hammers were struggling at the London Stadium, fans were left perplexed somewhat as the former Arsenal man was taken off.

However, it has since transpired the forward had suffered a deep cut on the instep of his left foot which left his boot soaked with blood.

In his absence, the Hammers rallied to come back after James McArthur opened the scoring for the Eagles.

Goals from Robert Snodgrass, Javier Hernandez and Felipe Anderson meant Jeff Schlupp's header was a mere consolation in a 3-2 win.

The win moves West Ham up to tenth in the table.

The face rock bottom Fulham in their next game and will hope to be able to call upon Lucas Perez once his foot completely heals.
