‘I don’t see the leadership the great teams have’ – Niall Quinn delivers damning verdict on Arsenal after Manchester United defeat

'I don’t see the leadership the great teams have' - Niall Quinn delivers damning verdict on Arsenal after Manchester United defeat

Arsenal lack the leadership required to be a great team, Niall Quinn has told talkSPORT.

The Gunners have failed to win the Premier League in more than a decade and they face being also-rans again this season after Sunday’s defeat to Manchester United left them five points adrift of leaders Leicester.

Arsene Wenger’s side were way off their best at Old Trafford, and Quinn believes they simply don’t possess the character needed to be champions.

Speaking on the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast, the club's former striker said: “They will never get a better chance [to win the title] than this year and I don’t think there are enough players in the side who have been in this position with an Arsenal shirt on.

"In the old days they were used to doing it every couple of years and they had this great graft and experience and the leadership to bring you through situations - but I don't see it there.

"I saw a lot of people running around, trying things [against Manchester United], but I didn’t see the leadership that the great Arsenal teams had.

"McLintock, Adams, Vieira, Petit, the successful teams had them [leaders]. I just don't see that kind of player at Arsenal's disposal right now."
