Bosnich warns Aston Villa they must not become a selling club

Mark Bosnich has warned Aston Villa they must be careful not to become a selling club.

Paul Lambert’s side have been rocked with the news that Christian Benteke has handed in a transfer requestand, while former keeper Bosnich feels there is no point trying to keep an unhappy player, he is concerned about what it means for Villa’s future.

He said: “It’s a massive blow, but if a player wants to leave, you can’t keep him. The best thing to do is get the best price possible for him and make sure he leaves on your terms, which means having a replacement lined up.

“But they need to get it right and ensure they don’t become a selling club. Last season was a fright and they nearly went down, and they need to make sure that never happens again.”
