The Red Devils have already seen a £95million bid for the defender reject and will have to up their off to bring him to Old Trafford

Manchester United are ‘ready to go crazy’ to land Napoli star Kalidou Koulibaly in the summer, according to reports in Italy.

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis confirmed last month that they had rejected a £95million bid for the Senegal international.

He said: “Mourinho wanted him, we rejected £95 million. But now it’s impossibile that he leaves Napoli.”

Even despite Mourinho’s departure, the Red Devils are reportedly still keen on bringing him to Old Trafford ahead of the 2018-19 season.

De Laurentiis will talk to potential suitors if Napoli receives an offer of around €120million (£108million), which would break the transfer record for a defender.

Mourinho also refused to deny rumours of United’s interest before he was sacked last month.

“I cannot answer your question,’ Mourinho said. “If is true, if is not true, I cannot answer to your question, maybe your question is the first one about the market and maybe the next press conference I have two more questions, and maybe the next press conference I have three more.

“The only thing I can tell you is Koulibaly is a Napoli player. And I don’t speak about players from other clubs.”
