The Portuguese champions confirmed on Tuesday morning that the 103-cap Portugal defender has joined as a free agent, signing until June 2021.

The 35-year-old spent three seasons at the Estadio do Dragao, winning two league titles, before a decade in Spain.

His comeback to Porto sees him reunite with former Real Madrid team-mate Iker Casillas.

Pepe had been linked with a move to the Premier League, with Arsenal and Wolves among the clubs rumoured to be interested in him.

He becomes the club's second signature of the window after signing winger Fernando from Santa Clara for £1.35million.
