Whites boss Marcelo Bielsa is already compiling his background checks on the 31-year-old former England international as he plots a swoop to bring the hometown hero back to Leeds.

He became the youngest player to ever play in the Premier League when he made his first-team debut for the Whites as a 16-year-old back in 2003.

He went on to join Tottenham in 2005, winning the League Cup in 2008, before moving to Everton after a decade at White Hart Lane.

Lennon, who had previously battled mental health issues while on the Toffees' books, joined Burnley in January 2018 and was a vital member of the Clarets squad that, against all the odds, qualified for the Europa League last season.

The opportunity of an emotional reunion to his boyhood club in the summer, though, could prove too tempting to resist.
