Newcastle United news: Rafael Benitez not happy with way Elias Sorensen’s loan with Blackpool is progressing

Blackpool won the race to sign the striker ahead of Carlisle, Hartlepool and Oxford United but his progress has been halted with just 32 mins of action since the switch

Rafael Benitez has admitted he is not happy with the way striker Elias Sorenson's loan is panning out at Blackpool.

The Dane had scored 21 goals for the Mapies in their youth set-up and signed a long-term contract to keep him at St James' Park before moving to the Seasiders.

The League One outfit fended off interest from Carlisle, Hartlepool and Oxford United to sign the promising youngster so he could gain more first-team experience.

But his progress has been halted after playing just 32 minutes since he made the switch - and Benitez isn't happy about it.

Speaking to the , the Spaniard said: "It's something difficult for me.

"Ben (Dawson) dealt with them (Blackpool) and I thought it was more clear for the lad.

"But you need to know exactly what is going on to have an opinion.

"I'm not happy with the fact that he was not playing games, but at the same time I don't know what was going on when we did the deal."

Blackpool boss Terry McPhillips has insisted those who aren't playing must stay patient.

He said: "We’ve got plenty to pick from and we just ask for the lads on the bench and those who aren’t in the squad to stay patient, wait your turn and stick with us.
