Are Leeds the most entertaining Championship team EVER? talkSPORT host Adrian Durham raves about Marcelo Bielsa’s men

The Whites are playing some electrifying football in their bid for promotion to the Premier League

talkSPORT host Adrian Durham suggests Marcelo Bielsa’s Leeds United might just be the most entertaining team ever to play in the Championship.

Bielsa has the club on the verge of a long-awaited return to the Premier League following a 15-year absence.

The eccentric Argentine, nicknamed ‘El Loco’, has become something of a cult hero in Yorkshire, breathing new life into the club with his high-octane philosophy and ‘crazy’ personality.

Another thrilling display on Tuesday night saw the Whites beat Reading 3-0 to stay in control of second place, two points ahead of Sheffield United and the same distance from league leaders Norwich.

Bielsa has captured English football’s imagination through powerpoint presentations and blue buckets, and he seems to have gained another admirer in Durham, who couldn’t help but rave about Leeds.

“I was blown away [on Tuesday night],” Durham said.

“You could easily say Hernandez is the best player in the Championship.

“Bamford’s dummy for the first goal – that’s the kind of football where you make a little noise when you see it. It was just sensational.

“There was some fantastic football from Leeds. And I was thinking, ‘Is this the most entertaining side we’ve seen outside the top flight, ever?’

“My neighbour is a big Leeds fan and whenever Leeds are playing in the south we try and get to the game, and we do it because Bielsa’s Leeds are just brilliant.

“The fans are brilliant as well, so to stand with the fans is an experience, but also the way they play with the high intensity.

“He talks so highly of his players, he seems to love his players and it gives them confidence to try and do things.

“Look at young Jack Clarke when he was in the team, absolutely incredible. You’re looking at teenagers just going at defenders and being truly entertaining.”

Nine games remain as the race for automatic promotion reaches its climax, and there are concerns Bielsa could leave Elland Road if Leeds fail to go up.

Reports suggest owner Andrea Radrizzani has all his eggs in one basket this season and will not be able to fund another promotion bid, with Bielsa earning triple most Championship managers.

Former Leeds defender Danny Mills told talkSPORT: “Whatever happens this season, if they don’t get up, I fear either he’ll be poached or he’ll go, 'Okay, I tried and it didn’t quite work’.”
