Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang mask: Ex-Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp loses bet after Arsenal star’s ‘Black Panther’ celebration
The Gunners striker was booked after donning a mask after his second goal, and it ended up costing Redknapp money
Harry Redknapp has criticised Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang for his ‘Black Panther’ celebration during Arsenal’s victory over Rennes – mainly because it ruined his bet.
The former Tottenham boss placed a spread bet on a strong Arsenal performance, which proved well-advised after the Gunners won 3-0 to overturn a two-goal deficit from the first leg.
Aubameyang struck twice, and following his second, donned a mask inspired from the 2018 Hollywood film ‘Black Panther’.
The striker later explained: “I needed a mask which represents me and that’s the Black Panther. In Gabon we call the national team the Panthers.”
The 29-year-old was booked for the celebration, and without revealing any details, Redknapp hints his bet might’ve had something to do with yellow cards.
“I was with Arsenal last night, I could see them turning that deficit around and they did it quite comfortably,” he told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast.
“I had a spread bet yesterday, I bought Arsenal’s performance.

“I was a bit disappointed when [Aubameyang] put the mask on. I couldn’t tell you what it cost me!
“He got a booking for that and I was not too pleased with him.
“What was that all about? What’s it coming to?”
The victory booked Arsenal's place alongside Chelsea in the draw for the Europa League quarter finals, which takes place live on talkSPORT2 immediately after the Champions League draw at 11am.
No English team has been eliminated from European competition so far this season, with Tottenham, Liverpool, and both Manchester clubs featuring in the last eight of the Champions League.
