De Gea's current deal expires at the end of next season and United are desperate to tie him down to a new contract.

But negotiations have been deadlocked for several months and the club could be forced to sell this summer - to avoid losing him for free when his contract runs out.

The 28-year-old is widely considered the world's best goalkeeper, and PSG are willing to pay £60million for his services as they look for a long-term replacement for Ginaluigi Buffon.

United are locked in a tense battle for Champions League qualification and it is understood De Gea will not sign a new deal unless the club finish inside the Premier League's top four.

The Red Devils are also trying to agree fresh terms with Ander Herrera and Marcus Rashford.

Herrera, 29, has also been linked with a big-money move to PSG on a free transfer this summer if he refuses to sign a new contract with United.
