Fowler is understood to want to make some marquee signings for the club to turn their fortunes around.

According to , Liverpool striker Sturridge fits the bill and he reportedly has been ‘offered several A-League clubs’.

The 29-year-old has struggled for regular playing time at Anfield this season and has been limited to just two Premier League starts.

Fox Sports’ executive producer of football, Murray Shaw, said: “One player I will throw up, and I know that this player has been offered to several A-League clubs already for next season, is Daniel Sturridge.

“I wouldn’t be at all surprised if the phone call is made from Robbie Fowler to bring someone like Daniel Sturridge down as a marquee player for next season.

“Robbie Fowler is a legend of the Liverpool club. If the Liverpool club see him as a potential coach, or part of the coaching setup in the years to come, I sense they’ll look after him as they have done with Steven Gerrard at Rangers.

“Obviously geography is a factor in this… but if they don’t want Robbie Fowler to be made to look silly coaching Brisbane Roar, they might look at sending a couple of players Down Under to join him.”

Sturridge was signed by Liverpool for around £12million in January 2013 from Chelsea.

He went on to score 10 goals in the second half of that season before netting 21 Premier League goals in 29 games the following campaign.

Injury problems have held him back, though, and he has scored 19 goals in 71 Premier League games in the last five seasons.
