He will be Real's second capture after they managed to secure the services of defender Eder Militao from Porto and is expected to join on a six-year deal, with Mariano Diaz going the other way in a separate transfer.

Barcelona were also said to be interested in the 21-year-old, but his asking price meant they withdrew pursuing it any further.

It has been an impressive season for Jovic, who has found the net 26 times in 44 matches, helping Frankfurt go fourth in the Bundesliga and challenge for a place in the Champions League next season.

On Thursday, Jovic scored the opener in the Europa League semi-final first leg against Chelsea, in a match that finished 1-1.
