Exclusive – Le Tissier claims Baines and Fellaini would make Man United title favourites

Matt Le Tissier believes the double signing of Leighton Baines and Marouane Fellaini would make Manchester United the favourites to win the Premier League title.

The reigning champions have offered a combined £28m for the Everton pair, a bid that has immediately been rejected by the Merseyside club.

But Southampton legend Le Tissier expects David Moyes to return with an improved offer.

He told the Alan Brazil Sports Breakfast: “I think that [bid] is a bit shy of what the pair of them are worth. But when clubs are trying to buy players they want to get them as cheaply as they can and they don’t go straight in with their best offer.

“I suspect they will gradually edge it up until they reach a compromise, and that’s what may well happen.

“They would be a great addition to the United squad. There’s been a lot of talk that United are not favourites this year but those two signings would change quite a few people’s minds.”
