After securing the services of Eden Hazard from Chelsea, it seems the Frenchman is keen to offer Dani Ceballos in order to bring Eriksen to the Bernabeu.

But an exclusive in suggests Spurs would rather Asesnio came to north London, even if it was a loan deal initially considering he has a €700million release clause (£625m).

The 22-year-old shot to prominence on the world stage when he scored in the 2017 Champions League final against Juventus in Cardiff.

Reports in Italy suggested the Old Lady wanted to sign the Spaniard this summer as well, but Zidane politely refused an offer from the Serie A champions.

If Madrid refuse to make him part of the deal, it could scupper any chance of Eriksen moving to La Liga this summer.

The playmaker, who joined Spurs from Ajax in 2013 for a bargain £10.9m, has just one year left on his current contract and talks about a new deal have stalled.

He admitted earlier in the summer window it may be time for a 'new challenge' after the heartache of lsoing the Champions League final against Liverpool.
