The former Leeds United and Aston Villa midfielder had entered the final year of his contract at the Etihad

Fabain Delph will complete an £8million move to Everton from Manchester City.

The England international had entered the final year of his contract at the Etihad and is expected to be officially announced as a Toffees player on Saturday.

talkSPORT understands the 29-year-old has agreed a three-year contract with the Merseyside club.

Delph has featured at both left-back and central midfield for the Citizens under the guidance of Pep Guardiola.

But securing the services of Rodri from Atletico Madrid and then securing Oleksandr Zinchenko to a new deal meant the Spaniard felt the 29-year-old was surplus to requirements.

Everton boss Marco Silva has worked closely with Director of Football Marcel Brands to identify younger, up-and-coming talent.

But when a player of Delph's quality and pedigree became available for such a nominal fee, the Portuguese boss decided to make a move.

Everton have had to beat a host of domestic rivals to get Delph's signature, with West Ham United reportedly holding an interest in the versatile star.

But the chance to stay in the north-west for the former Leeds United and Aston Villa midfielder, as well as pushing for European qualification, appears to have swung the pendulum in Everton's favour.

The Toffees are still expected to be active in the transfer market, with boss Silva still hoping to offload players and add an attacker to his squad.
