Ivan Rakitic close to Barcelona exit despite stating he wants to stay as Manchester United and PSG monitor his situation

Ivan Rakitic looks set to leave Barcelona after contract talks stalled between the club and midfielder.

Despite having two years left on his current deal, the Croatian has seen his playing time dwindle under manager Ernesto Valverde.

According to Spanish publication , Manchester United and Paris Saint-Germain are both keeping an eye on the situation.

The recent arrivals of Frenkie de Jong and £108million Antoine Griezmann mean Rakitic, 31, is likely to find opportunities at the Nou Camp limited.

Rakitic, a World Cup finalist, arrived at Barcelona in 2014 and has made 268 appearances for the club, winning four La Liga titles and the Champions League.

He has publicly declared he is hopeful of remaining at the club and said he is calm about the situation.

Rakitic said: "I've spoken with the club and the coach and we have the same idea, for me to stay at Barca.

"We're open to everything, as always, but my intention is to stay. I have two more years on my contract and I want to keep enjoying myself at Barca.

"It doesn't annoy me. I know that football works like this and it makes me proud because if other teams want me it's because I'm doing things very well. I'm calm."
