Yannick Bolasie refuses to move to CSKA Moscow over fears he could be racially abused like Malcom

Everton forward Yannick Bolasie has distanced himself from a move to Russia this summer after seeing the way Malcom was treated.

The Brazil international completed a reported £36million move to Zenit St Petersburg last week, but his move to met with derision from the fans.

At the match with Krasnodar a banner held up by disgruntled fans had a sarcastic message to chiefs.

It said: “Thank you leadership for loyalty to traditions.”

Previously, the Landskrona fan association has urged club chiefs not to acquire black players.

Zenit have denied accusations of racism, with chief executive Alexander Medvedev claiming the entire situation is a fabrication invented by Russia’s western critics.

Medvedev said: “There was not conflict. Once again we have seen the western media throwing in false information.

“Unfortunately, this does not only happen in sport.”

However, the incident appears to have done enough to deter Bolasie from making a move to CSKA Moscow this summer, despite his future at Goodison Park looking bleak.

Despite reports linking the DR Congo international with a move to Russian capital, the 30-year-old clearly has no intentions of heading east.

Bolasie moved to Merseyside in August 2016 for a reported fee of £25m, but suffered an injury to his right ACL in December 2016 and missed a year of action.

He then spent half of the 2018-19 season on loan at Aston Villa, before joining Anderlecht on a deal until the end of the season.
