Bobby Duncan: Jamie Carragher sparks war of words with Liverpool youngster’s agent after explosive statement

Jamie Carragher has become involved in a Twitter spat with Bobby Duncan’s agent for the explosive statement he released accusing Liverpool of ‘bullying’ the youngster.

Saif Rubie published the statement on social media accusing the Premier League club of ‘bullying’ the youngster and forcing him to suffer mental health issues that have left him housebound for four successive days.

The 18-year-old forward wants a move away from Anfield and it was claimed the club blocked season-long loan offers.

Liverpool legend Jamie Carragher hit back at Rubie’s comments and insisted the agent should be giving him different advice.

This sparked a back and forth between the two on Twitter over the handling of the young player.

Rubie also hit out at Liverpool’s sporting director Michael Edwards and criticised his knowledge of players.

Duncan, a cousin of Steven Gerrard’s, was brought to Anfield last summer for £200,000, and he admitted at the time it was a ‘dream’ to join his ‘boyhood club’.

It is understood he left Man City for Liverpool in search of more first-team opportunities, though he did not make a single appearance for Jurgen Klopp’s senior side in 2018/19.

He was included in the first-team squad for Liverpool’s pre-season tour of the United States, however, and also scored in the 6-0 friendly defeat of Tranmere in July.
