Fastest players in the 2018/19 Champions League, including Real Madrid and Liverpool stars

As if he hadn't won enough awards already this year, it has been revealed Liverpool defender Virgil van Dijk was officially the fastest player in the Champions League last season.

, the Dutchman outpaced the likes of ​Gareth Bale, ​Kylian Mbappe and Leroy Sane to clock the fastest speed in Europe as his side won their sixth Champions League title.

Van Dijk - even ahead of his pacy team-mates ​Mohamed Salah and ​Sadio Mane - recorded a top speed of 34.5km per hour against Barcelona at Camp Nou in the first-leg of their semi-final tie.
