‘There’s no problem!’ – Ronald Koeman confirms Dusan Tadic is not seeking Southampton exit

Ronald Koeman has revealed there are no issues with Dusan Tadic, confirming that the Serbian midfielder has no plans to leave St Mary’s this summer.

27-year-old Tadic moved to the South Coast before the start of last season, establishing himself as a key player under Koeman for the duration of the campaign.

He played 37 games, scoring five goals and registering nine assists, proving his talent time and time again in the Premier League.

Many considered the former FC Twente player to be a key figure for Koeman, but he has not had the same impact this time around.

Tadic has started fewer games, leading to suggestions that he could be looking to leave this summer to revive his career.

However, the Dutch manager has allayed such fears, confirming that there are no issues with Tadic and his commitment to the Saints.

“For every player if he doesn't start regularly it's difficult," Koeman explained.

"You talk about what came out in the press, I spoke to Dusan and he was totally surprised.

"He's one of the players that if he has a problem he will talk to the manager. We have good contact.

"There's no problem at the moment and for next season we will see what happens."

Tadic was a guaranteed starter last season as there were fewer options Koeman could call upon, and the manager believes the Serb is making fewer starts this season because of greater strength in depth.

Koeman added: "We have more players on the bench, more players who will not always start, and that's the competition you like to have.

"But there's no problem, because if there was any problem he is one of the players who speaks to me and we have very good communication.

"We have more competition in front now, Jay (Rodriguez) is back, Charlie (Austin) is here and Shane Long has developed fantastically this season in the last few months.

"So that makes it more difficult for everybody: Mane was on the bench, Austin was on the bench, Pelle was on the bench.”
