Alternative Premier League table after ten games, based on expected goals

What a weekend of Premier League action we've just had.
There were 38 goals scored with nine of them coming in Leicester's 9-0 thrashing of Southampton, which equalled the record win in Premier League history.
Granit Xhaka stole all the headlines during Arsenal's draw against Crystal Palace for his foul-mouthed rant at his own fans, while Manchester United missed two penalties in their win at Norwich.
Liverpool responded to Manchester City's triumph over Aston Villa with a win of their own against Tottenham at Anfield.
And of course, VAR was a massive talking point across a number of matches including at Brighton's dramatic victory over Everton.
Chelsea though, according to 'expected goals' (XG), were supposed to get beaten by Burnley but Christian Pulisic's perfect hat-trick helped them to a 4-2 triumph at Turf Moor.
To get a better look at how sides are doing, the xG metric allows us to get a better picture of just how teams are performing.
What is expected goals?
- Expected goals (xG) is a statistic used to work out how many goals should be scored in a match.
- Every single shot is awarded an xG value based on the difficulty of the attempt, with factors including distance from goal, type of shot and number of defenders present affecting the value.
- The higher the xG of a particular shot, the more likely a goal should be scored from that shot.
- The xG value of every shot in a game is then used to calculate the expected goals in a particular match.
