Arsenal ‘would have more points under Chris Wilder or Sean Dyche’ – Danny Murphy blasts ‘tactically inept’ Unai Emery

Danny Murphy says Arsenal are ‘tactically inept’ under Unai Emery and claims the club would be higher up the table if they had Chris Wilder or Sean Dyche in charge.
Pressure is mounting on the Gunners boss following a 2-0 defeat to Leicester City on Saturday, which leaves the team with just one win in six league outings.
The weekend’s round of results saw the Gunners slip down to sixth in the Premier League, with newly-promoted Sheffield United now ahead of them in fifth.
Chris Wilder is working wonders at Bramall Lane despite supposedly working with a ‘bang-average squad’, and his tactical approach with the Blades together with their impressive and stubborn performances have seen him linked as a surprise candidate to replace Emery at the Emirates Stadium.
And while fans are now turning on Emery, who still has the backing of the Arsenal board, many have baulked at the suggestion of Wilder taking over.
But Murphy has now also backed Wilder for a bigger job, saying Arsenal would be much better off this season if he was in the dugout.
Speaking to talkSPORT on Monday, the former Liverpool midfielder said: “This is Arsenal, they’re trying to compete and get back into the Champions League places, but they haven’t got enough.
“His hands are tied a bit in terms of recruitment, but ultimately tactically they’re so inept.
“They keep playing out from the back and keep losing it. I’m all for sticking with your philosophy, but change it in the game, mix it up.
“He has shown before that he doesn’t mind mixing it up, when he first came there were lots of substitutions early in games, lots of tactical changes.
“But now… maybe the players have lost faith a little bit and that unfortunately subconsciously creates a really bad physical reaction in terms of you’re not believing in what you’re doing when you go out on the pitch and it drains you.
“If you look at Sean Dyche and Chris Wilder at Sheffield United, they are two English managers who have come up the hard way.
“Would Arsenal be in a better position now if Wilder was in charge or Dyche?
“Would they have more points? I think [they would], 100 per cent.”
