Ceballos originally insisted there was not an option to buy inserted into the contract, remaining adamant he would return to the Bernabeu.

However, his relationship with Zidane has deteriorated and he does not want to return to the Spanish capital, according to Spanish outlet AS.

The 23-year-old met with Los Blacnos president Florentino Perez last month to discuss the terms of a permanent exit from the club.

It is understood a transfer fee of around £31milllion will be enough for the Gunners to snare the Spanish midfielder on a permanent basis.

also suggested Ceballos asked Perez to meet with Arsenal in January to try and sort out a deal.

This latest news will come as a boost to Arsenal who are keen on making Ceballos' move permanent.

The ex-Real Betis midfielder has made 17 appearances and scored two goals in all competitions since moving to the Emirates.
